The University of Twente (UT) connects technology, science and engineering with social sciences. Thanks to this high-tech and human touch, 16,500 UT staff – students and academics – impact our society every day. From our campus, we work together to find groundbreaking solutions at the forefront of technology and the digital revolution.
Our research and teaching reach beyond the campus. Our community contributes to a liveable world. For us and future generations. We focus on five target areas in close collaboration with industry:
- advanced materials: smart materials with new properties
- advanced manufacturing and mechatronics: robotics, mechatronics
- medical technology and devices: high-tech medical equipment, technical medicine
- wireless and remote sensing: wireless sensor networks
- safety and security: a safe society
Our Brussel’s presence supports the UT community in connecting excellent research, education, and innovation with a wide range of European stakeholders, including the European Parliament, the European Commission, and networks in all shapes and sizes. The focus is threefold: education policy and strategy, research policy and strategy, and ambitions for overarching innovation. This strategic intelligence focus works in all directions, contributing to position papers and discussions with the EC in collaboration with other liaisons, higher education colleges, and industry and government representatives present.
We work closely with the leadership of the university, its faculties, scientific institutes, and partners in the Twente region. There are direct links with the strategy policy development and the business development (industry collaboration, grants).
