Propelling Europe’s AI Revolution: the role and impact of universities
High-level executives of UnILiON member universities, European policymakers, and stakeholders will discuss ongoing developments related to Artificial Intelligence and the role and impact of universities. They will touch upon a wide range of topics: from opportunities, challenges, and best practices at Higher Education Institutions to upcoming key European Union policy developments such as the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act, the establishment of the European AI Office, and the call for AI Factories.
The aim of this session is to discuss:
- How can we trust AI and ensure it is a force for good?
- What is the EU’s position on AI with the Union’s competitiveness at stake?
- How are universities tackling the rapidly developing changes in AI across educational, research, and operational aspects?
- How do universities contribute to addressing European and global challenges, from their local environment to the European and global scales, through using as well as researching and providing training on AI?
- What support do universities and the wider R&I community need from EU institutions, and vice-versa?
- How can we best bring together industry, science, and policy to tackle Europe’s AI ambitions?
Speakers from diverse backgrounds will enrich the discussion between academia, policymakers, and the broader education and research and innovation sector on the key challenges and developments in the field of artificial intelligence.
